One interesting aspect also worth mentioning is the legal one. The New York State Liquor Authority can crack down on things like open bars when they feel such events violate the ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) laws, as they have recently done in NYC with beer pong, citing that the game promotes unlimited and binge drinking. I wonder where they draw the line and if open bar events comply with these laws or if some fly under the radar.
