Spider-man, Cinderella and other costumed characters stuck around the day after Halloween for the 14th annual “Candy Trade-In Party,” where children with diabetes give up their sweets for toys.
The event, which kicked off American Diabetes Month, was held at the Columbia University Medical Center’s Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center and featured face painting, games and a magician. Screenings also were available to identify increased risk for Type 1 diabetes. The Berrie Center is one of only 200 locations in the U.S. to offer these screenings,
