New Yorkers celebrated the life of Maya Angelou during a packed memorial service at the Riverside Church in Morningside Heights. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and author Toni Morrison spoke to the crowd about the inspirational poet and writer, who died in June at age 86.
Angelou, best known for her memoir “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” was recalled as a poet of the people who touched millions of lives with her words and spirit.
