Manhattan —
Members of the Sikhs for Justice Organization rallied at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza to remember the thousands of Sikhs murdered between Oct. 31 and Nov. 3, 1984. The killings were thought to be a reaction to the assassination of India’s Prime Minister Indira Ghandi by two Sikh security staff.
Many of the speakers at the event also spoke about the need for an autonomous state for Sikhs due to ongoing persecution in India.
