Cooking Up Safer Stoves

The Global Alliance For Clean Cookstoves drew Hillary Clinton and other notables who joined the push to bring stoves than use clean fuel to developing nations. More than four million people die annually from fumes produced by open flames and other unsafe cooking methods. The group hopes to put eco-friendly stoves in 100 million homes by 2020.

The two-day conference at the Conrad New York Hotel ended with pledges from the U.S., the U.K. and Norway to contribute a total $290 million to the effort.
