Bronx —
Arthur Avenue, the heart of the borough’s Little Italy, is now officially one of the country’s “great streets.”
The honor was bestowed by American Planning Association, which cites top locations based on “accessibility, functionality, and community involvement,” according to the organization’s website.
The area is known to most who live and work there as “the Real Little Italy” for its array of Italian restaurants, bakeries and markets.
At the Arthur Avenue Retail Market, shoppers, diners and business owners weren’t surprised by the honor, but said it was a long time coming.
