Queens —
Saturday is Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, and this year some business owners have reason to celebrate.
Women now own 9.4 million businesses in the U.S., accounting for about one-third of the national total. In New York City, the number of women-owned business in Brooklyn grew 77 percent over the last decade, with a 64 percent increase recorded in Queens.
Helping boost the numbers in Queens is Nicola Campbell, founder of Chef Mom Grill and Bakery in Queens Village. While she’s faced challenges – including bouncing back from Superstorm Sandy – she’s determined to keep doing what she loves.
