Teen Podcasters Give Voice to Their Lives

“You’re listening to Canarsie Radio and this is my story.”

That’s how each episode of the KNRC Youth Radio podcast begins. This program at the Canarsie branch of the Brooklyn Public Library gives teenagers the chance to create, write, record, and edit original episodes.

In a school district where most students in grades 3 to 8 are not meeting or exceeding standards in English Language Arts, the podcast is a way to make reading and writing accessible and fun.
