Families with roots in the Ecuadorian Andes gathered at Sisa Pakari in Woodside to celebrate Carnaval, the indigenous celebration that gives thanks to Mother Earth and seeks good luck for the harvest.
The Ecuadorian cultural center is in the heart of Queens, also known as “Ecuayork,” where immigrants from the South American country comprise the largest Latino group.
