BRONX —
No one had to tell New Yorkers that bodegas are an essential business.
Yet many bodegas are struggling to stay open and pay their rent, as customers stay home and owners and workers fear getting sick.
The new MyBodega Online App provides a way to order groceries for pickup or delivery. CEO Jose Bello introduced the app on March 23, months ahead of its planned rollout.
More than 35 bodegas across the city—along with a few supermarkets and restaurants—have signed up, a majority of them in the Bronx. Bello has a goal of registering 1,000 stores by the end of June.
