While home might be appear to be a reassuring place to retreat to during quarantine, that’s not true for everyone.

The pandemic is creating conditions that are ripe for domestic abuse. It is also making it harder to provide help to victims.

In March, New York City police recorded 1,500 more complaints than in the same month last year. That’s an 8% increase and the highest recorded number for March since the NYPD started collecting domestic-violence complaints.
