Budget cuts have left heavily used parks and playgrounds in Cambria Heights in bad shape, and residents are letting the city know.

Complaints to the 311 system about broken equipment, deteriorating grounds and growing piles of debris have nearly doubled since Parks Department funding was dramatically reduced over the summer.

“The rise in 311 complaints regarding parks is largely due to budget cuts stemming from the COVID-19 crisis that have had harsh and swift impacts disproportionately in communities of color,” said Jalissa Quigley, a spokesperson for Councilman I. Daneek Miller.
