QUEENS — The Hollis Avenue Congregational Church has served its Queens Village community for 95 years.
Now the church could use some help itself, as it seeks a grant of $200,000 to $250,000 to fund its food pantry and other services. Demand has increased 150% amid the pandemic and no one is turned away.
“We are one of few food pantries still open,” said James G. Thomas, the church president.
