The nonprofit Part of the Solution, a community center in the Fordham section, provides a close look at food insecurity in City Council District 15, where 10 candidates are vying to replace Ritchie Torres in a March 23 special election.
Those seeking office generally spend too much time trying to come up with “one-solution-fits-all” answers rather than listening to people in need, said Taina Rodriguez, the center’s associate director of food and dignity programs.
“I tell them ‘Here’s what I see. Here’s what people are asking for. Like, why are we not doing something?’” she said.
