The Threat to People's Beach

The People’s Beach at Riis Park has been a destination for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers since at least the 1940s.

Now, the possible demolition of an abandoned hospital that provides a sense of shelter threatens to upend the experience for the beach’s devotees.
