Alternate side of the street parking rules were suspended for more than 30 spots across the city – not that the city Department of Transportation had anything to do with it. The spaces were transformed into urban oases – hosting everything from yoga demonstrations to mini-parks, complete with AstroTurf – as part of the annual Park(ing) Day festivities, during which some of New York’s most valuable real estate gets a whimsical makeover. At one location on the Upper West Side, Fordham University theater students used the opportunity to put on a show.
