Hunger Grows in a SNAP

Food stamp cuts are sending more New Yorkers to emergency food sources such as pantries and soup kitchens, advocates for the needy say. Margarette Purvis, CEO of the Food Bank of New York,  said that if the reductions to the federal Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) aren’t reversed, the city could be headed over a hunger cliff, with devastating results to New York’s working poor, families and businesses.
