The Amboy Neighborhood Garden in Brownsville has reopened, the result of volunteers deciding to clean up the long-neglected site.
“All you need is hands, effort, and a desire to want to help the community,” said Charles Joyner, a local storyteller and gardener who is among the leaders in the neighborhood effort to reclaim the large corner lot at Amboy Street and Blake Avenue.
“It’s a wonderful gem. People need to know how to eat. They need a green space for their kids to run and play. They need it for their health.”
