NEW YORK CITY —
On Election Day, protesters gathered at City Hall in Lower Manhattan, marched across the Manhattan Bridge, and ended with a prayer at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn — to call for elected officials to support a ceasefire and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
The protest, led by Palestinian-led community organization Within Our Lifetime, is the latest in an upswell of protests across the world calling for an end to Israeli military strikes against Palestine.
The current escalation to a 75-year-old conflict broke out after Hamas militants killed 1,400 people in southern Israel on Oct. 7. The Israeli response has killed more than 10,000 people in Gaza, including more than 4,000 children.
