More than 2,000 Roosevelt Island residents have signed a petition, which was created at the end of October, asking for tram priority boarding rights. They say that the tram, which connects Manhattan’s east side to Roosevelt Island,  is full of tourists because of viral videos on social media, and now they can’t use it as a reliable form of transportation anymore. The proposal was denied by the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation in August 2023 when the F train was shut down. Now the residents plan to involve elected officials on the city and state level to speak up for them.
